COMAC C919 Aircraft to Be Mass-Produced and Enter Large-Scale Use in China
On January 17, 2025, Shen Bo, Vice General Manager of COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China), stated in an interview, "In 2025, the production capacity for the C919 will reach 50 aircraft, with an expected delivery of 30 units."
The C919 large passenger aircraft is China's first domestically developed jetliner with independent intellectual property rights, designed according to international airworthiness standards. It features a single-aisle, narrow-body layout, with seating for 158 to 168 passengers and a range of 4,075 to 5,555 kilometers. Currently, the number of orders for the C919 has exceeded 1,000, with major state-owned airlines including Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines each ordering over 100 aircraft. By 2031, these three airlines are expected to introduce 100 C919 aircraft each.
As of December 19, 2024, COMAC has delivered 14 C919 aircraft to the three major airlines. On December 31, 2024, China Eastern Airlines officially inducted its 10th C919 into service.
At the 2025 Civil Aviation Work Conference, it was noted that in 2024, the C919 carried over one million passengers, marking the entry of Chinese aircraft into a new stage of large-scale development and multi-user operations. In 2025, civil aviation authorities will focus on post-certification management and modifications for the C919 and C909 models.
